[DigitalToday reporter Chi-kyu Hwang (황치규)] OpenAI will end its standalone desktop browser, ChatGPT Atlas, about 9 months after its launch and integrate related features into a new ChatGPT desktop app, 9to5Mac reported on July 9 local time.
OpenAI released a new ChatGPT desktop app on July 9. The ChatGPT desktop app also includes the AI agents ChatGPT Work and ChatGPT Codex.
The ChatGPT desktop app supports multiple tabs, a password manager and autofill, and can access a cloud browser via Work mode. OpenAI also added a ChatGPT side chat window to Chrome so users can immediately call up and use ChatGPT and Codex while using Chrome.
OpenAI said it aims to end support for ChatGPT Atlas on Aug. 9 and will provide additional information through in-app notices and email.
ChatGPT Atlas was first released for Mac in October last year.
