Ryu Je-myeong (류제명), second vice minister at South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT, met Foo Chi Hsia, vice minister at Singapore's Ministry of Digital Development and Information, in Seoul on Tuesday. They discussed the two countries' key AI policies and cooperation steps tied to follow-up measures after leaders' meetings.
The two countries have discussed AI and digital cooperation at two leaders' meetings, in November last year and in March this year. At the meeting, Ryu introduced South Korea's "AI full-stack" ecosystem linked from semiconductor manufacturing and infrastructure to AI models and services. He shared the "Republic of Korea AI Action Plan", an AI transformation, AX projects in industry and the use of AI in the public sector.
The two sides also discussed forming a digital consultative body to swiftly implement a memorandum of understanding on digital cooperation signed during the Singaporean leader's visit to South Korea in November 2025.
Ryu said he expects significant synergy if Singapore's AI infrastructure capabilities are combined with South Korea's advanced manufacturing capabilities. He added that he hopes for the Singapore government's continued interest and support for AI and digital cooperation between the two countries.
