[Digital Today reporter Daegeon Seok] Samsung Electronics is expanding supply of air-conditioning solutions in India’s premium housing market. Samsung Electronics said on Sunday it will work with Indian property developer Central Park to supply residential system air-conditioner HVAC solutions to the ultra-premium Orchard residential complex in the Gurugram area.

The project is a large-scale undertaking that will install about 3,000 HVAC solutions across 300 households. Gurugram is a satellite city about 30 km south of New Delhi and an industrial hub with a concentration of domestic and foreign IT companies. Summer highs exceed 45 degrees Celsius, driving strong demand for high-efficiency air-conditioning. Move-ins will begin from early next year.

Samsung Electronics will supply a combination of the DVM S2 large system air-conditioner outdoor unit, which can connect up to 64 indoor units to a single outdoor unit, and the WindFree 1Way ceiling cassette indoor unit for homes. The DVM S2 applies a high-strength frame to boost structural stability by up to 210 percent compared with the previous model. Its low-vibration design secures operating reliability even in environments with strong earthquakes at around magnitude 9.

The system also includes AI-based functions. It provides AI Fast Cooling, which learns operating patterns to increase cooling speed, AI Energy Saving, which reduces power consumption by about 15 percent, and AI Real-time Refrigerant Leak Detection, which detects refrigerant leaks in real time. The WindFree 1Way ceiling cassette has a 135 mm-high design to improve space efficiency. It includes a PM 1.0 filter that sterilises ultrafine dust and harmful bacteria by 99 percent. When connected to SmartThings, users can manage temperature, humidity and air quality in each room using a mobile device.

Samsung Electronics plans to use the supply deal as a stepping stone to expand its HVAC business from commercial buildings into the premium housing market. “Through Samsung Electronics’ unrivalled HVAC technological competitiveness and solutions tailored to local lifestyles, we will further solidify leadership in the global premium housing market,” said Seongtaek Lim (임성택), vice president of Samsung Electronics’ DA Division.
