LG Electronics is strengthening its push into the combined washer-dryer market. LG Electronics said on Saturday it will launch new LG Tromm AI Objet Collection WashTower and LG Tromm AI Objet Collection WashCombo models this month with the largest capacity in South Korea. The WashTower has 25 kg washing and 25 kg drying capacity, while the WashCombo has 25 kg washing and 21 kg drying capacity. It can handle heavy laundry, such as winter bedding, in a single load.
The new products combine AI functions. Based on a motor that precisely controls the drum and a compressor that generates drying air, they feature an AI DD motor that selects the optimal option from 6 motions depending on fabric type, level of soiling and the amount of laundry. This improves both energy efficiency and washing performance. Both products earned South Korea’s top tier of energy efficiency despite having the largest capacity in the country.
On AI functions, the company also added to the WashCombo an "AI time sensing" feature that identifies the laundry load and provides an estimated time by course within 3 seconds, along with an "AI time guide" that learns usage patterns and provides an estimated drying time. The WashCombo’s "small-load rapid course" completes washing through drying in about 64 minutes based on a 3 kg load. That is more than 30 percent shorter than the existing product’s 99 minutes. Drying capacity was also expanded to 21 kg, up 6 kg from the previous model.
The subscription and care service was also upgraded. The company newly added a "direct water high-pressure cleaning" service that connects the water pipe directly to the drum to clean the inside and outside of the drum, followed by UV treatment and an endoscope inspection. In addition to specialized drum care, the service also includes steam cleaning of the detergent drawer, the detergent drawer mounting area and rubber gasket parts.
The factory price ranges from 5.09 million to 5.19 million won depending on specifications. The WashTower comes in 7 colors and the WashCombo in 4, with "Luxe Silver" and "Steel Black" newly added. Son Chang-woo (손창우), head of the Living Solution Business Division at LG Electronics’ HS Business Division, said the company will continue to lead the combined washer-dryer market by highlighting differentiated AI functions, including its core AI DD motor technology, and its competitiveness in having the largest capacity in South Korea.
