Ethereum layer-2 Arbitrum DAO has passed a proposal to gradually shift Arbitrum Nova into maintenance mode and recommend that developers and users migrate to Arbitrum One within 90 days.
The migration period is 90 days, through Sept. 2, 2026. Users must move applications, liquidity and infrastructure to Arbitrum One during that time.
Arbitrum Nova will continue operating after the migration period ends, but will shift to a minimal maintenance setup that includes reduced developer support, limits on infrastructure speed and cuts to operating resources.
Launched in 2022, Arbitrum Nova is a separate Ethereum layer-2 blockchain introduced by Arbitrum, with a focus on services with low fees and high transaction volumes such as games and social apps.
Arbitrum DAO judged it would be more efficient to concentrate resources on Arbitrum One rather than operate the two chains separately.
