Nexon and Naver are introducing a new platform-linked service that lets users move between watching broadcasts and playing games on a single screen.
Nexon said on Sunday it will roll out linked content between its online soccer game 'EA Sports FC Online' and the streaming platform Chzzk with Naver. It plans to offer viewers an expanded content experience ahead of the upcoming season of major global soccer events.
From 10 a.m. on June 12, desktop viewers on Chzzk watching broadcasts in the soccer, FC Online and 'FC Mobile' categories will be able to use three FC Online-based mini-games directly on the screen. After clearing all the mini-games, a coupon code for FC Online or FC Mobile will be issued to the Naver Pay (Npay) storage. Users can enter the code in the game to obtain reward items.
Data synergies between the platforms will also be put into full swing. Nexon will reflect user data from Nexon and Naver to display personalised Nexon game content on the Chzzk screen for viewers of those category broadcasts. Through customised banners based on users’ interests and gameplay history, it will encourage streaming to lead naturally to game access.
The project is part of a strategic partnership between the two companies.
Bae Jun-young (배준영), head of Nexon's Platform Division, said, "This collaboration is an attempt to combine the experiences of 'playing games' and 'watching games' based on the two companies' content and platform capabilities." He added, "Building on the cooperation Nexon and Naver have accumulated together, from account linking to content linkage, we will create an environment where users' daily lives and games are connected."
