Shinhan Financial Group held a forest-tending volunteer activity in Andong, North Gyeongsang Province, in an area damaged by wildfires.
Shinhan Financial said on June 5 that employees held a volunteer activity on May 30 at Shinhan SOL Bangul Forest in Yonggak-ri, Iljik-myeon, Andong, North Gyeongsang Province.
Shinhan SOL Bangul Forest is a forest-creation project Shinhan Financial is pursuing to restore the wildfire-hit area in Andong. In line with the government’s nationwide tree-planting policy, it plans to plant about 20,000 trees in the area by 2028.
The volunteer activity was arranged to help trees grow after the forest was created and to support environmental recovery in the wildfire-hit area.
Shinhan Financial plans to expand the scope of activities through programmes involving new employees and family participants. It aims to reinforce the meaning of Shinhan SOL Bangul Forest as a forest that employees create and tend themselves.
A Shinhan Financial official said, "We are working together to restore wildfire damage and help the local community recover." The official added, "We will continue activities with our employees to respond to the climate crisis and conserve the local ecosystem."
