KB Financial Group is continuing veterans support activities for people of national merit and descendants of independence activists.
KB Financial is carrying out various commemorative activities for the 71st Memorial Day to honour patriots and fallen heroes, it said on Thursday.
KB Kookmin Bank carried out volunteer work managing gravesites at Seoul National Cemetery to mark the month of patriotic remembrance. It has continued the volunteer work for 15 years since signing a sisterhood agreement with the cemetery in 2012.
It will launch a "KB veterans benefits remittance cheque" service for overseas recipients of veterans benefits on June 8. The service allows people of national merit living abroad and bereaved families to receive benefits via foreign currency remittance cheques without a local bank account. KB Kookmin Bank plans to waive the cheque issuance fee in full.
KB Capital has run a "patriotic cane" support programme for Korean War veterans since 2022. It delivered canes to 2,990 veterans nationwide through last year, and this year expanded support centred on 816 veterans in North Gyeongsang, North Jeolla, South Jeolla and Gwangju.
It is also continuing support for descendants of independence activists. KB Financial is working with the Korea Enterprises Federation and the Liberation Association to push the "premium store" project supporting small business owners who are descendants of independence activists. After supporting 8 businesses last year, it is expanding tailored support this year, including store environment improvements, facility remodelling and management consulting.
The KB Financial Foundation also runs a scholarship programme for children of public servants who died or were injured in the line of duty. As of 2026, it provided about 6.5 billion won in scholarships to a total of about 3,700 people, including families of fallen or injured police and coast guard officers.
KB Financial is also continuing efforts to promote the meaning of the independence movement through its public participation veterans campaign, "Daehan Lives."
A KB Financial official said, "We are carrying out various activities so that the sacrifices and contributions of those who devoted themselves for the country can be respected and remembered." The official added, "We will continue veterans activities to carry on the spirit of the independence movement and honour people of national merit."
