Hana Bank is again introducing a savings product whose interest rate varies depending on the South Korean national football team’s performance in international tournaments.
Hana Bank said on Sunday it launched the “BEST 11 Savings” plan, wishing the national team success at an international football tournament held in June.
The BEST 11 Savings plan applies a special preferential interest rate on a sliding scale based on the national team’s final result in the international tournament. The product sold out early when it was launched in November 2022, and Hana Bank is bringing it back reflecting customer requests for a re-release and the tournament cheering 분위기.
The sales period runs through the 24th and is limited to 30,000 accounts. Monthly deposits range from 10,000 won to 200,000 won, and the contract term is six months. The interest rate can reach up to 11 percent a year, combining a base rate of 2 percent a year, a preferential rate of up to 0.2 percent a year and a special preferential rate of up to 8.8 percent a year.
The standard preferential rate provides 0.1 percent a year for signing up for automatic transfers and 0.1 percent a year for agreeing to marketing, respectively. The special preferential rate is applied at maturity upon early termination, based on the team’s final result: 1.5 percent a year for reaching the round of 32, 2 percent a year for the round of 16, 5.5 percent a year for the quarter-finals and 8.8 percent a year for the semi-finals.
Hana Bank is also running an event for customers who sign up to mark the product’s re-release. It will give prizes by lottery to BEST 11 Savings customers: 1 travel voucher, 2 LG StanbyME units, 100 BBQ chicken sets and 300 prizes of two Mega Coffee Americanos.
It has also prepared a bonus event linked to the “Hana Gathering Account.” If both the organiser and members who joined the gathering account launched in April sign up for the BEST 11 Savings plan, the bank will provide McDonald’s McMorning sets to 20 groups, up to 100 people. Up to 5 people per group can receive the benefit.
A Hana Bank official from its inclusive finance products unit said, “In response to many customer requests, we have brought back the BEST 11 Savings plan,” adding, “We will continue to prepare various products and services that South Korean football fans can enjoy together.”
