NC AI said on May 31 it signed a strategic memorandum of understanding with POSCO DX on May 29 to jointly develop a robot foundation model (RFM) and cooperate on related technologies.

The signing ceremony was held at NC AI's headquarters in Pangyo, Seongnam. Attendees included NC AI Chief Technology Officer Kim Min-jae (김민재) and POSCO DX Robotics Automation Center head Yoon Seok-jun (윤석준), along with officials from both companies.

The two companies will conduct joint RFM research through the partnership. An RFM is a technology that integrates visual, language and physical data for training to give robots cognitive and decision-making capabilities.

They will also pursue cooperation in optimising a vision-language-action model (VLA), building a digital twin-based simulation environment, verifying robot intelligence technology, operational stabilisation and technical support.

NC AI will be responsible for VLA model optimisation and building the digital twin environment. POSCO DX will support the configuration of a digital twin-based test environment and technology demonstration based on its expertise in automation and robotics engineering.

Kim said, "Through cooperation with POSCO DX, we will strengthen competitiveness in robot AI technology and lead the general-purpose physical AI ecosystem together."
