South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT has formed an "AI and software project compensation system improvement" task force and began full-scale discussions to respond to the spread of artificial intelligence technology and changes in the software business environment.
The task force aims to establish an effective software compensation calculation system. Because AI projects require continuous data learning and upgrading work, there are limits to fully calculating compensation under the existing function point method.
The ministry formed the task force with experts from industry, academia and research, including the Korea AI and Software Industry Association (KOSA), which publishes and operates the "Software Project Compensation Calculation Guide". At its first meeting held on the 28th, it shared the task force's operating direction and specified the limitations of the existing software compensation calculation system and key tasks to be discussed.
Lee Do-gyu (이도규), head of the Information and Communication Policy Office at the Ministry of Science and ICT, said, "We will establish a rational compensation calculation system to inject reinvestment momentum so our AI and software companies can take on new technological innovation." He added, "Through the task force, we will draw up effective improvement directions so a healthy virtuous-cycle ecosystem can take root."
