Blind opens Campus channel for college students, expands into career solutions

Blind, a social platform for office workers, said on Tuesday it has opened a college student-only channel called Blind Campus for students preparing for employment.

Blind Campus, built within the Blind app, is a space for college students preparing for employment to exchange information, the company said.

The company first released a "My School" channel for communication among currently enrolled students at the same university and a "University Alliance" channel for interaction with students at other schools. It plans to open additional channels in stages, including a "Major Alliance" channel for students in the same major and an "Alumni" channel where users can ask questions and receive answers from alumni who are office worker seniors from the same school. Existing office worker-only channels, such as company and industry channels, will remain accessible only to those currently employed. Blind said it will provide a separate space for interaction between college students and office workers while keeping an environment centered on current employees independent.

Blind will also open employee reviews and salary information, previously available only to registered office worker members, to college students. College student members will be able to view all company reviews and salary information without limits without submitting separate reviews.

The registration process is the same as for office workers. Users can immediately use all Blind Campus functions once they verify they are currently enrolled using their university email. Anonymity is protected in the same way.

Blind plans to expand beyond a college student community into a data-based career solution through Blind Campus. It plans to introduce a "Career Roadmap" that suggests suitable career paths by analyzing current employees' career histories and a "Practical Skills Guide" that includes required competencies and outlooks by job category.

Yu-jeong Jeon (전유정), head of Blind's Korea business, said demand from college students seeking employment information on Blind was already substantial, but previously they could only view posts, limiting active information searches. She said Blind Campus aims to help college students preparing for employment obtain practical career information through two-way connections with students from the same school, the same major and office worker seniors.
