Oracle said on May 12 that Samsung Electronics will adopt Oracle Java SE Universal Subscription to standardise software development.

Oracle said Samsung will use it to integrate its companywide application development environment with Oracle Java, simplifying IT operations and strengthening security.

It will simplify licence management, address compliance risks, simplify IT operations and strengthen security across core business functions through Java SE Universal Subscription.

Lee Geun-ho (이근호), a vice president at Samsung Electronics' AI Center, said the adoption is intended to provide internal engineering organisations with a secure, reliable and standardised development environment. He said cooperation with Oracle Java has enabled the company to minimise operational risk and simplify licence management so it can continue focusing on innovation.

Oracle said it will support Samsung in strengthening security and securing consistent enterprise-grade support across its internal software environment. Java SE Universal Subscription helps engineers apply the latest security patches quickly so sensitive and mission-critical semiconductor development can continue without interruption, the company emphasised.

Mike Ringhofer (마이크 링호퍼), senior vice president of Oracle's global Java business, said many global companies enjoy the scalability and stability of the Java platform and Samsung Electronics is among them. He said he is proud to support Samsung Electronics' engineering team's semiconductor technology innovation with Oracle Java.
