[Digital Today reporter Hyunwoo Choo (추현우)] Crypto trading firm MoonPay has launched a Mastercard debit card called the MoonAgent Card that lets AI agents pay directly from on-chain wallets.

Fintech outlet Finextra reported on May 1 that the card is a service combining MoonPay’s AI agent infrastructure and developer network, Monavate’s regulated card issuance infrastructure and Mastercard’s global payments network.

The MoonAgent Card, unlike existing stablecoin debit cards, is designed for AI agent use. It can be used and managed programmatically through MoonPay CLI and the MoonPay agent workflow.

It also removes the need, as with some agent cards, to preload a custodial balance or move funds off-chain before payment. Users can approve smart contracts to access stablecoin balances at the time of the transaction or delegate spending authority to an agent.

Payments follow standard card payment procedures. Monavate processes on-chain fund execution and card authorisation in real time. If a transaction is declined, funds return to the wallet immediately. Wallet custody is not transferred, and authorisation can be withdrawn at any time.

The MoonAgent Card is an example of linking AI agent payments between existing card payment networks and on-chain wallets. The core of the launch is that it is designed to use wallet funds at the time of the transaction without switching to custody or preloading.
