As May, the month for families, begins, the interactive exhibition hall KT Onmaru is drawing attention as a destination for family outings.
KT Onmaru is an exhibition hall where visitors can see the evolution of telecommunications technology at a glance. Since opening in December, about 42,000 visitors have visited, making it a leading downtown exhibition space.
Visitors can directly experience early communication methods. It offers familiar memories for parents and a new experience for children. In the future technology experience space, it presents exhibitions that combine technology and everyday content, including creating images using KT's artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
KT is running special programmes for family visitors in May. For families who visit KT Onmaru, it takes family photos and uses AI technology to create specially transformed family photos in frames. The event will run until supplies run out.
Onmaru, located on the second floor of KT's Gwanghwamun Building West, will operate normally except on May 1 and Sundays. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is free, and visitors can also apply through Naver reservations for a tour programme led by professional docents.
Kim Dong-hoon (김동훈), head of public relations at KT and an executive director, said, "KT Onmaru is a space planned to help lead empathy and dialogue between generations as people experience changes in telecommunications technology." He added, "We hope it will become a place where people can spend meaningful time downtown during the holiday period."
