KB Financial Group has unveiled a senior care service using humanoid robots, detailing its strategy to respond to ageing.

KB Financial said on April 30 it will debut its senior-care-focused "physical AI care service" at AI EXPO KOREA 2026, which will be held at Coex in Seoul from May 6 to 8. The service is based on humanoid robots. It will be the first time the financial sector has disclosed related technology.

The model is being developed in cooperation with generative AI company GENON, with the core aim of responding to rising care demand driven by super-ageing. It is characterised by the integration of physical AI technology that carries out physical actions beyond simple consultation.

At the exhibition, the service will demonstrate daily management functions such as conversation-based emotional care, medication and schedule management, and health checks. It will also include physical interaction that assumes real care situations, such as delivering medicine or assisting rehabilitation using the robot's hands.

Going forward, KB Financial plans to continue testing the field applicability of care-robot technology centred on the lab and to pursue commercialisation based on accumulated data. It also plans to explore the potential to expand the business for future-oriented care services by verifying effectiveness in real settings such as nursing facilities.

A KB Financial official said, "Starting with this demonstration, we will step-by-step verify the feasibility of applying physical AI to care sites." The official added, "Based on the verification results, we plan to expand the scope of services and business areas." The official also said, "The goal is to build an integrated senior service that encompasses care, health, housing and finance."
