IBK Industrial Bank of Korea said on Tuesday it has introduced a scheme to cut interest rates on remote loans by up to 0.6 percentage points for employees working at small and medium-sized enterprises.

Eligible borrowers are employees working at an SME as of the application date. A basic rate discount of up to 0.4 percentage points applies depending on length of employment. An additional 0.1 percentage point discount is added for workers at firms outside the capital region and for young people aged 34 and under, respectively.

The products covered are the i-ONE Mortgage Loan, the i-ONE Jeonse Loan and the i-ONE Employee Livelihood Stabilisation Fund Interest Subsidy Unsecured Credit Loan, all of which are remote loans. If the maximum discount applies, as of Tuesday the mortgage loan rate is 3.36 percent a year and the jeonse loan rate is around 3.09 percent a year.

An official at the bank said the scheme is a "practical financial support measure for SME workers" and that it will continue to 마련 a range of preferential support programmes to help ease staffing shortages at SMEs.
