Data foundry company Boundfor said on Tuesday it signed a memorandum of understanding with law firm Changcheon to build a legal trust foundation for AI data.
The two plan to combine technology and legal expertise to build an integrated response system covering the full process from data creation to use, storage and evidentiary conversion. They said original copyright holders are expected to secure ways to prove unauthorised data use, while AI companies can manage in advance legal risks that may arise during data use.
Boundfor will advance data systems based on its AI data management technology, and law firm Changcheon will support compliance system design and dispute response reflecting a complex regulatory environment. The two will also develop a digital forensics-based evidentiary model and conduct joint research on guidelines for responding to AI regulation.
Boundfor CEO In-ho Hwang (황인호) said, "In the AI era, data itself is at the centre of disputes, so preventing problems in advance is more important than anything." He said, "Boundfor will protect original copyright holders' rights through technology and create an environment where AI data-using businesses can focus on development without legal burden, and will continue to contribute to Korea's leap to become one of the world's top 3 AI powers."
