Sherpa Soft, a database performance management company, said on Sunday it signed an agreement to acquire management control of SMT Information Technology to strengthen its public sector business.

The acquisition is part of a strategy to create synergy in the database performance management market by combining Sherpa Soft’s database performance monitoring capabilities with SMT Information Technology’s strengths in public sector system integration maintenance and software development and supply.

Founded in 2006, Sherpa Soft has specialised in developing database performance monitoring solutions. Its flagship product is Sherpa, which can manage performance across a range of databases operating in cloud environments as well as commercial and open-source databases. The Sherpa solution has been adopted and is being operated by 70 percent of South Korea’s top 20 conglomerate groups.

Founded in 2003, SMT Information Technology has carried out public sector system infrastructure and cloud 구축, system integration maintenance, software development, and IT infrastructure consulting.

Sherpa Soft CEO Park Ki-bum (박기범) said the company decided on the acquisition because it highly valued SMT Information Technology’s capabilities in integrated operation of public institution systems and cloud 구축. He said Sherpa Soft plans to expand the distribution of database performance monitoring solutions in the public sector based on the two companies’ technology and experience, and to expand its business area into AI infrastructure monitoring in the future.
