KakaoGames said on April 23 it held a 'Friends Game Land' event on April 22 at Severance Rehabilitation Hospital in Seodaemun, Seoul, for 70 child patients.

Friends Game Land is a KakaoGames corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme that visits children and adolescents with limited access to game culture and offers opportunities to try games. Since last year it has been working with the international children's rights NGO Save the Children. It has held the event at Severance Rehabilitation Hospital for three consecutive years, providing game experience programmes for child patients.

The event was planned to mark the Day of Persons with Disabilities on April 20. The venue included a 'KakaoGames Zone' featuring a 4D virtual reality (VR) bus and VR sports, an 'Awareness Improvement Zone' offering wheelchair sports games and rehabilitation games for children with developmental delays, and a 'Play Zone' with a photo zone and a colouring wall for commemorative photos.

It added new content in the 'Awareness Improvement Zone' with rehabilitation games designed to support fine motor development in children with developmental delays. It also ran wheelchair sports games that can be used by children who use wheelchairs.

A KakaoGames official said the event at Severance Rehabilitation Hospital helped improve children's awareness of disabilities and conveyed the value of games. The official said the company would work to build a culture in which anyone can enjoy games without physical or environmental constraints.
