Google unveiled Gemini AI features for TVs at CES 2026, TechCrunch reported on Jan. 5.

The update lets users find content using voice alone and use AI to reorganise photos and videos.

Google’s Gemini AI for TVs will first be applied to TCL TVs and later expand to other Google TV devices. Users can speak directly to the TV to get viewing recommendations, request summaries of drama plots and search by actor names, enabling natural-language conversation.

A key point is that the TV screen can be used not only as a viewing tool but also as a learning and exploration platform. When users search for a specific topic, related information and interactive content appear on screen, and follow-up questions allow deeper learning.

The update also includes integration with the Google Photos library to search for specific people and scenes and use AI to artistically transform photos.

The most practical change is the ability to adjust TV settings through voice commands, TechCrunch reported.

Users can automatically optimise settings without searching menus to adjust screen brightness or volume, using commands such as "The screen is too dark" or "I can't hear the dialogue well." The Gemini AI features are supported on Android TV OS 14 or later and require an internet connection.
