[DigitalToday reporter Chi-gyu Hwang] Data cloud company Snowflake updated Snowflake Intelligence and Cortex Code.

On April 21 local time, SiliconANGLE reported that Snowflake Intelligence is a context-aware AI agent for business users that allows users to ask questions about enterprise data and gain business insights.

By integrating MCP, it supports connections with Google Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Docs, Atlassian Jira, Salesforce CRM and Slack. An iPhone app will also be offered soon as a public preview, enabling data queries and workflow execution on smartphones. The update also adds “deep research” that generates reports including sources across multiple steps, and “artifacts” for saving and sharing analytics and workflows.

Cortex Code is an AI coding agent for data-centric workflows. The company said more than half of Snowflake customers have used it since its launch in late 2025.

The update expands support to external data systems such as AWS Glue, Databricks and the open-source PostgreSQL, allowing applications to be built without moving data. It also supports Visual Studio Code integration and an Anthropic Claude Code plugin. A new SDK supporting Python and TypeScript allows companies to embed Cortex Code capabilities into their own applications.

A browser-based sandbox that runs code without local setup and a feature that lets users preview workflows before execution were also added. Baris Gultekin (바리스 굴테킨), Snowflake vice president of AI, said, "The platform that wins in AI is one that has the right data and guardrails and makes it easy to actually apply AI."
