[DigitalToday reporter Jin-ho Lee (이진호)] KT on April 14 launched a bundled plan product offering YouTube Premium Lite, the first among South Korean telecom carriers.

KT revamped the base benefit of its existing YouTube Premium Choice plan from YouTube Premium to YouTube Premium Lite. YouTube Premium Lite was officially launched in South Korea in March. It is a service that lets users watch major videos without interruptions from ads for 8,500 won a month.

YouTube Music, which was provided with YouTube Premium, is excluded. When using music content or Shorts in the YouTube app, offline downloads and background play are restricted and ads may be displayed.

If users choose the YouTube Premium Choice Special plan and apply a 25 percent selected-contract discount and a 25 percent premium family bundle discount, they can use various benefits at a monthly level in the 50,000 won range. These include fully unlimited data, YouTube Premium Lite, Membership VVIP grade, one smart device line free, one data sharing line free and device insurance discounts.

KT also offers YouTube Premium Lite through KT Subscription at a discounted 8,000 won a month compared with the market price, strengthening price competitiveness.

It is also launching two subscription packs that combine the YouTube experience with daily benefits. The packs are YouTube Premium plus MegaMGC Coffee (three cups of hot Americano) and YouTube Premium Lite plus MegaMGC Coffee (one cup of hot Americano), providing monthly coffee coupons in the form of a Giftishow. To mark the launch, KT is running a discount promotion offering the products at 14,900 won and 8,500 won, respectively, until Dec. 31.

Through April 30, it is also running an event offering a 2,000 won Naver Pay point voucher to customers who newly sign up via KT Subscription for YouTube Premium or a subscription pack. Details can be checked on KT's website.
