[DigitalToday reporter Ji-young Lee] Woori Bank said on Sunday it will push ahead with a project to highlight its history and tradition, targeting branches that have been operating for more than 100 years, as it marks its 127th anniversary.

The project is designed to revisit the bank's path alongside customers and local communities over a long period, and to expand it with a modern sensibility.

Woori Bank plans to designate 15 branches that have operated for more than 100 years as '100-year branches', including Jongno Financial Center, Seoul City Hall Financial Center, the Incheon branch, Jeonju Financial Center and Dongnae Financial Center. It will install plaques and sculptures symbolising history and tradition at the branches to underscore their meaning as regional financial hubs.

The branches with more than 100 years of history include the Incheon branch (1899), Pyeongtaek Financial Center (1907), Seoul Station Financial Center (1908), the Gupo branch (1912), the Jinhae branch (1913), Seoul City Hall Financial Center (1915), Jongno 4-ga Financial Center (1916), Dongnae Financial Center (1918), Jeonju Financial Center (1920), the Busan Bupyeong-dong branch (1922), the Miryang office (1922), Jongno Financial Center (1924), Yongsan Financial Center (1924), Cheongju Financial Center (1924) and the Iksan branch (1924).

Woori Bank will also newly develop a 'heritage design' that strengthens its distinctive visual elements and introduce it across customer touchpoints. The design will be applied first to items customers encounter in daily life, such as shopping bags and business cards.

A Woori Bank official said, "Our 127-year history was possible because of the trust of customers and local communities." The official added, "By revisiting 100-year branches, we will reaffirm that value and continue to establish ourselves as a financial partner that carries forward a new history together with customers."
