South Korean streaming service Tving said on Monday it has introduced a “profile viewing rating setting” feature. The upgraded profile and adult verification functions allow users to set viewing age limits for each profile for themselves and their children.
The viewing ratings have 5 levels: all ages, 7 and older, 12 and older, 15 and older, and 19 and older (restricted for youth).
The feature can be set in the “Edit Profile” menu on the mobile app and on the web. Once set, content rated higher than the designated age is automatically restricted from appearing on the home screen and in content lists.
Tving is also joining the Video Rating Board-led “OTT Protection Mode: ON!” campaign, working to block content harmful to youth and promote a healthy viewing culture.
A Tving official said, “We improved the viewing environment so users can enjoy content with greater peace of mind according to their age and lifestyle.” The official added, “We will continue efforts to protect youth and foster a sound OTT viewing culture.”
