Uber Taxi said on Tuesday it launched a premium mobility service called Premier Van. With demand rising for family travel and for golf and airport trips, it is targeting the large-vehicle ride-hailing market. The service will start in Seoul and expand to other regions in stages.
Premier Van can carry up to 5 passengers and load 4 30-inch suitcases. It uses a pre-confirmed fare system in which the price shown in the app before boarding is charged as is. The fare does not change due to traffic congestion or route changes. The fare may change if the passenger changes the destination during the trip.
Subscribers to the Uber One membership service will earn up to 5 percent of their payment amount as Uber One credits. A booking function will also be introduced sequentially. Riders can set their pickup time in advance.
Uber Taxi currently operates travel and premium mobility services including TaxiXL, Uber Hourly and Uber Black. It will also add a large-taxi service in Jeju within this month. It plans to speed up service expansion as the area has strong demand from foreign tourists for taxi travel.
An Uber Taxi official said, "As mobility patterns among domestic and overseas users diversify and demand rises especially among tourists for group travel and ample cargo space, we launched Premier Van." The official added, "Based on the high accessibility of the Uber app, which is available in more than 70 countries worldwide, we will provide an optimal mobility experience for foreign tourists to contribute to revitalising domestic tourism, and we will work to provide more diverse options for both passengers and drivers."
