Viva Republica, the operator of Toss, said on March 26 that its design education subsidiary Pi Institute of Design has opened Pi Design School and is recruiting students for its first official programme.
Pi Design School is an educational institution established in October last year to strengthen expertise across design, including UI and UX, and contribute to South Korea's design ecosystem.
The curriculum consists of Track A (Liberal Arts), centred on a humanities approach, and Track B (Engineering), centred on a technical approach. Both tracks study HID (Human Interface Design) and Aesthetic Literacy in common. They focus on learning how to use AI as a collaborative tool.
Kim Ji-hong (김지홍), head of Pi Institute of Design, said, "Tools change constantly, but the sense to discern what is good and the attitude to break down and reconstruct problems retain their value over time." He added, "Through education that goes beyond the pace of change, we will cultivate talent who have established their own thinking."
