Shinhan Financial Hope Foundation said on March 25 it held a donation ceremony for the “Just Dream” initiative and signed a business agreement to link a support project for families in crisis. The event was held on March 24 at the Community Chest of Korea building in Jung-gu, Seoul, with the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the Community Chest of Korea and the Korea Council on Social Welfare.

Just Dream is a Ministry of Health and Welfare programme that provides food and daily necessities unconditionally to vulnerable people struggling to make a living.

The agreement follows Shinhan Financial’s decision in February to expand its support for Just Dream to a total of 10 billion won over 3 years.

Shinhan Financial Hope Foundation plans to strengthen livelihood stability support by linking about 1,000 households identified through Just Dream to its crisis-family support project, “In a Moment of Crisis, With Shinhan.”

The programme identifies families in crisis through recommendations from social workers and police officers and provides up to 3 million won per household for living, medical, education and housing costs.

A Shinhan Financial Hope Foundation official said it would contribute to securing basic food and addressing welfare blind spots through cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Welfare. The official said it would continue various social contribution activities based on public-private cooperation.
