SK Broadband said on March 25 it has completed building its digital signage service, B tv On Ad, at senior centres in Hapcheon County and Changwon City in South Gyeongsang Province and is moving to expand its smart senior-centre project.
Hapcheon County began a pilot operation at 50 sites in March last year and expanded to 470 sites in February this year. Changwon City is running a pilot at 40 sites as of January this year. Namwon City in North Jeolla Province has already introduced it at 496 senior centres and 23 administrative welfare centres.
The service provides leisure and welfare programmes such as health exercises and singing classes. It also allows local governments to remotely broadcast municipal promotions and emergency notices. The company said the monthly subscription model reduces the budget burden on local governments and can be used on other companies' lines.
Jang Si-hoon (장시훈), head of public-sector customers at SK Broadband, said, "We will work with local governments nationwide to take the lead in improving the quality of life of senior citizens."
