Anthropic's launch of an AI-based software security vulnerability detection tool called Claude Code Security sent shares of major cybersecurity firms sharply lower, SiliconANGLE reported on Feb. 20. CrowdStrike fell 7.56 percent and Cloudflare slid 8.09 percent, among others, SiliconANGLE said.

Anthropic's Claude Code Security is being offered as a limited research preview to Claude Enterprise and Teams Edition users, but it appears to be having a direct impact on share prices.

Traditional static analysis tools detect code vulnerabilities using database-based methods, but they have limitations in that they cannot cover all security threats.

Claude Code Security, by contrast, understands code flow through AI-based analysis rather than static rules and identifies potential vulnerabilities. Developers can connect it to a GitHub repository and request a code scan. Claude Code Security also provides a function for AI to automatically fix security flaws.

Claude Code Security is interpreted as a signal that Anthropic is entering the security automation market in earnest using AI. OpenAI also released a similar security automation tool called Aardvark and added a sandbox function that analyses vulnerability difficulty.
