[DigitalToday reporter Chi-gyu Hwang] Korea Internet Security Agency (KISA) said on Tuesday it has released a security guide for 5G private networks to support safe operations of Ium 5G, a foundation for digital and AI transformation. It said the guide can be used from network construction through the operations stage.

KISA published the guide to help domestic 5G private network builders and operators, as well as equipment developers, create a secure environment. It said the guide reflects South Korea’s industrial structure and network characteristics.

The guide also includes practical security standards, such as potential security threats that can arise across 5G private networks, countermeasures by threat type and a security inspection checklist that can be used in the field.

KISA President Sang-joong Lee (이상중) said, "As 5G private networks spread, this is the time when raising awareness of private network security is needed." He added, "To create a safe digital environment, we will continue to expand support related to establishing security standards in industrial sites."
