KB Kookmin Bank said on March 17 it plans to expand cultural infrastructure so people across the country can enjoy reading by building 143 'KB Small Libraries' by this year.

The bank has created 134 'KB Small Libraries' nationwide from 2008 through last year by using idle spaces. This year it plans to build libraries at 9 locations nationwide, including Jangseong County in South Jeolla Province, Gimhae in South Gyeongsang Province and Gwangsan-gu in Gwangju, using eco-friendly solid wood.

It will also carry out remodeling projects for existing libraries and provide reading infrastructure using online and offline platforms, including a mobile book bus and an e-book service.

A KB Kookmin Bank official said, "We hope children grow up in a healthy way with books at KB Small Libraries." The official added, "We will continue sustained support so local residents and youths can enjoy opportunities for culture and education."
