AI and cloud company MegazoneCloud is working with Kookmin University to train future converged talent to lead the quantum industry.
The two sides on March 13 signed a memorandum of understanding for cooperation in quantum computing at Kookmin University, with key officials including MegazoneCloud CQO Dong-ho Kim (김동호) and Kookmin University Graduate School of Business IT Dean Nam-gyu Kim (김남규) in attendance. They agreed to pursue jointly planning and designing regular and non-curricular programs related to quantum computers, cooperating in operating industry-academia linked lectures, exchanging human resources, and other joint research and cooperation.
The cooperation differs from existing engineering-centred quantum education by opening a regular course on quantum computing within the business school. It focuses on fostering "quantum-native" business talent that can apply quantum technology to business decision-making.
To raise the level of lecture expertise, MegazoneCloud's quantum computing-dedicated research organisation, the Quantum Innovation Lab, will directly take part in designing the curriculum. MegazoneCloud also plans to co-author tailored teaching materials so business students can understand complex principles of quantum mechanics from their perspective.
MegazoneCloud will also support a practicum environment using Amazon Web Services' cloud-based quantum computing service, Amazon Braket. This will allow students to access real quantum computers and run code without directly owning expensive quantum hardware.
Dong-ho Kim said quantum computing is a next-generation strategic capability that will improve the speed and completeness of corporate decision-making when combined with AI and cloud. He said the cooperation with Kookmin University will be a starting point for systematically fostering quantum-native business talent that can redefine real-world tasks from a quantum perspective and verify them through practice-based learning.
Seung-ryul Jeong (정승렬), president of Kookmin University, said the cooperation is the first attempt in South Korea to apply quantum computing to business education and is a meaningful starting point for fostering quantum-native talent that will lead the future corporate management environment. He said Kookmin University will work with MegazoneCloud to actively reflect problems from the industrial field in education and research, and nurture practical talent to drive technology and business innovation.
