CrossENF, a fintech startup that operates overseas remittance services, said on Feb. 12 it donated a total of about 15,000 clothing items to the Hwaseong Foreign Welfare Center and OTKCAN ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.

The Hwaseong Foreign Welfare Center supports stable settlement in local communities by promoting the human rights of foreign residents and running technical training and hobby and leisure programmes. OTKCAN is a nonprofit environmental group that uses donated clothing to support underprivileged groups in South Korea and overseas and also works to address resource-circulation issues caused by clothing waste.

The donation focuses on easing difficulties migrant foreigners face as they become members of South Korean society. CrossENF decided to provide clothing needed to adapt to South Korea's four-season climate as one way to lower everyday barriers migrant foreigners face.

The clothing will be delivered to migrant foreigners from various countries through the Hwaseong Foreign Welfare Center and OTKCAN. It is also expected to be delivered to foreign workers at workplaces in Hwaseong and to foreign support centers and multicultural centers in regions across South Korea.

Won-hee Shin (신원희), chief executive of CrossENF, said, "I deeply empathise with the difficulties migrant foreigners face in the process of settling as members of South Korean society." He added, "We will continue activities that look for needed help alongside our neighbours and share warm support."
