Samsung Electronics' micro RGB TV has simultaneously obtained two eye health-related certifications from a German certification body. Samsung Electronics said on March 13 that the micro RGB TV (R95H) simultaneously obtained the 'Safety for Eyes' and 'Circadian Rhythm Display (CRD, Circadian Rhythm Display)' certifications from German testing and certification body VDE (Verband Deutscher Elektrotechniker).

Both certifications are awarded to products judged not to burden the human body after measuring a display's impact on users' eyes and biological rhythms. The 'Safety for Eyes' certification analyses light generated by digital devices and evaluates its effects on eyes during prolonged viewing. The key indicator is the level of blue-light reduction. It verifies how much the device suppresses blue light, which can affect eye fatigue and sleep rhythms with long exposure.

The 'Circadian Rhythm Display' certification measures a display's impact on viewers' 24-hour circadian rhythm. The criteria assess whether it recreates an environment close to natural light during the day and minimises stimulation at night. The process analyses melatonin suppression levels by time of day and characteristics of changes in colour temperature and brightness.

Samsung Electronics is expanding the application of the 'Safety for Eyes' certification across its main 2026 TV lineup. The company said it is also sequentially widening the application of the 'Circadian Rhythm Display' certification, focusing on premium products.

Son Tae-yong (손태용), a vice president at Samsung Electronics' Visual Display Business, said the micro RGB TV had been verified for both eye safety and circadian rhythm suitability, setting a new standard for premium TVs. He said the company would continue to develop differentiated display technology that also considers users' viewing environments and lifestyles.
