Shinsegae Group said on Feb. 10 that its chairman, Chung Yong-jin (정용진), visited the Traders Incheon Guwol store on Feb. 9, a week ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday, and encouraged on-site employees.
Chung visited the Guwol store, his third on-site visit this year, after going to Starfield Market Jukjeon and Starfield Village Unjeong last month.
The Traders Guwol store that Chung visited is the country’s largest Traders outlet, which opened in September last year. It adds a lineup of large-volume, value-for-money items focused on budget shopping to existing Traders stores and strengthens roadshows, differentiated products and tenant stores. Shinsegae Group operates 24 Traders stores in South Korea on a directly managed basis and plans to push ahead with opening a new store in Uijeongbu by the end of this year.
After touring the No Brand store and the restaurant area, Chung checked key items such as fresh foods and the section for holiday gift sets. Chung told employees at the site, "I hesitated because you seem busy preparing for the holiday, but I really wanted to say thank you." He also greeted customers by saying, "Come often." As he checked customer flows crowding into the grocery section to prepare holiday foods, he stressed that staff should pay attention so that not even minor accidents occur.
