SK Broadband said on Jan. 29 it will launch its 'Giga WiFi 7' router, featuring speeds twice as fast as existing products and a design that fits in anywhere.
Giga WiFi 7 provides a maximum wireless speed of 2.88 Gbps in the 5 GHz band, twice as fast as existing WiFi 6. It also supports wired speeds of up to 2.5 Gbps, converting bandwidth beyond gigabit internet to wireless without loss.
It also features multi-link technology that connects 2 frequencies, 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, simultaneously to reduce data latency. Customers using existing integrated WiFi products can use Giga WiFi 7 by adding 1,100 won a month.
The company also differentiated the design. It applied a 'flat antenna' that hides the bulky external antenna inside the device. It reduced the size compared with existing WiFi routers and fixed the internal antenna at an optimal angle, boosting signal efficiency and connection stability.
It adopts a foldable structure, allowing flexible placement to fit a space, such as standing it in a living room or installing it closely behind a TV. Giga WiFi 7 was recognised for its design excellence and won the main prize at the Japan Good Design Award 2025, one of the world's four major design awards. SKB plans to work with eco-friendly brand Pleatsmama to later introduce covers that can change the exterior design of Giga WiFi 7.
Hong Seung-jin (홍승진), head of SKB's wired business division, said, "Giga WiFi 7 is a customer-tailored product that has performance, design and price competitiveness." He said, "We will continue to introduce various services that can provide a differentiated telecommunications experience."
