Smilegate Hope Studio said on Jan. 27 it will run the donation campaign funding "Error: Bug Patch Needed" through March 31.
The campaign was planned around the concept of solving problems in social systems like a game. It aims to support teenagers producing projects to address social issues and strengthen their voluntary capabilities in the process.
Hope Studio selected incorporated association Education Lab 21 as a partner in cooperation with impact-tech startup MyOrange. Participating teenagers will receive expert mentoring for 2 months from April to seek ways to address social issues.
A web game developed by participants in Smilegate's creator support program CCL was applied to encourage participation in the campaign. Donors can register their nicknames in the game's hall of fame and take part in donating in an entertaining way.
All funds raised will be delivered to Education Lab 21 and used as project support funding. The project consists of a program that incorporates game elements such as collecting bugs and making prototypes.
The campaign is the second case of the social contribution cooperation model "Orange Alliance" launched by Hope Studio and MyOrange last year. The two companies are pursuing advanced social contribution activities by combining artificial intelligence-based social issue analysis capabilities with a donation platform.
Kwon Yeon-ju (권연주), a director at Smilegate Hope Studio, said: "We are working to effectively and sustainably solve social problems by combining donors' talents with partner companies' capabilities."
