SK Telecom will take online preorders for its new kids’ phone, the ZEM Phone Pocket Peace, through T Direct Shop until Dec 11.

The ZEM Phone Pocket Peace, an LTE smartphone for children, will launch on Dec 12 across online and offline channels. It is the fourth series of the earlier ZEM Phone Pokémon Edition and features a Pocket Peace universe themed on a space where Pokémon and people live together.

The new device is based on Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy A17. It comes in light blue and is priced at 349,800 won, including VAT.

It includes accessories such as a Pocket Peace crossbody bag, pouch keyring, phone case, phone strap and screen protector. All items have KC certification. It also applies a Pokémon IP theme for the first time, offering a dedicated ZEM Phone Pocket Peace theme for lock and home screens.

The phone offers services for children, including smartphone habit management, language learning and elementary-level current affairs news. Parents can link accounts with the ZEM app to use real-time location tracking, usage time controls, safety settings and safety reports.

The device comes with the Orae English app for elementary English education. It provides a personalised one-on-one learning curriculum. ZEM Phone Pocket Peace users can access the app for six months at no cost.

The KidsDa learning app, which uses AI to summarise elementary current affairs news and create quizzes, is also free for six months. The app offers a one-year subscription to the children’s magazines Sisawonjeongdae and Geulpic at a 40 percent discount.

Customers who buy and activate the device through T Direct Shop can receive additional gifts. The first 500 customers who register a purchase from Dec 9 to 22 and complete activation by Dec 29 will receive a T Direct Shop voucher worth 100,000 won.

Children who buy the ZEM Phone Pocket Peace can also receive T Gift items such as Philips Bluetooth kids’ wireless headphones, a mini retro camera and a Hello Kitty karaoke microphone speaker set. Details on preorders are available at T Direct Shop.

Yoon Myung-won, head of SKT’s Channel and Device unit, said the company aims to provide a safer and more enjoyable smartphone environment for children through the ZEM Phone Pocket Peace. He said SKT will continue to introduce customised kids’ phones and a range of content for both parents and children.
