Igloo Corporation, a security operations and analytics platform company, said on Thursday it has obtained a patent for collecting log data without interruption and storing it sequentially even when network failures occur in cloud environments.
The company said the cloud-based log management server patent it obtained focuses on resolving log continuity breaks caused by network outages and on laying the groundwork for cloud-based analytics systems to accurately analyse stored logs.
In cloud environments where many servers and services are distributed and connected over networks, even temporary disruptions can easily halt log transmission. Even if transmission resumes after recovery, the linkage between existing logs and new logs can be broken. This makes it difficult for big data analytics systems to identify relationships before and after an incident.
Igloo Corporation's technology automatically switches log transmission methods depending on the network connection status. It also supports keeping the entire log stream connected in the original order of issuance even after an outage is restored.
When the network is normal, logs are transmitted individually in real time to a cloud log repository. When a failure occurs, logs generated during that period are temporarily stored as files and then transmitted in a batch at the point of recovery for loading, the company said.
Lee Deuk-choon (이득춘), chief executive of Igloo Corporation, said, "As cloud migration by companies and institutions expands, the importance of core technologies is growing for collecting security data without breaks and analysing it precisely even amid variables such as network failures. Igloo Corporation will enhance security visibility in complex infrastructure environments and lead the implementation of an autonomous SOC based on reliable data processing and AI technologies."
