POSCO Future M is bringing in U.S. company Palantir's data platform. It is a step aimed at shifting work across the company to an AI-centred model. POSCO Future M said on Oct. 22 it signed a contract with Palantir to adopt the data operations and analytics platform Foundry and the AI Platform (AIP).

Palantir provides software that connects fragmented data to decision-making and execution across industries including security, manufacturing, finance and healthcare. Foundry is a platform for building data-driven operating systems. AIP combines generative AI on top of Foundry to help companies use AI agents.

Under the contract, the company plans to apply the tools first in sales and marketing to raise the level of customer response and collaboration. The company expects the deal to speed the buildout of an "AI-native" system in which dispersed data are integrated and analysed for quick decisions, AI handles everything from planning to execution, and people make only final decisions.

POSCO Future M sees cooperation with customers and suppliers as becoming as important as materials performance in the secondary battery industry. It also set a goal of becoming a company that leads the industry ecosystem beyond being a materials supplier. In July it presented its digital innovation vision as a "BoT (Battery of Things) ecosystem game changer", and in August it launched an "enterprise-wide PI (process innovation)-based AX project".

Targets were also presented. It plans to raise customer response capability in sales and marketing by more than 60 percent and boost manufacturing productivity by 30 percent. It also plans to halve product development time. Over the mid to long term, it plans to build a platform that leads standards for the battery industry ecosystem based on data accumulated from production through sales and to turn it into new business opportunities.
