World, an identity verification project co-founded by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, said on Oct. 19 it launched a WorldID product line aimed at banks and financial firms.
This marks the first time World has introduced products targeting a specific industry.
The company said the lineup consists of three products: the WorldID app, WorldID for Zoom and WorldID for agents. World said financial firms can use them to prevent deepfake fraud and AI impersonation across customer accounts, employee work and AI agents.
The WorldID app is an identity wallet that stores and presents user-related “Proofs.” WorldID for Zoom verifies whether the person on the call is a real person rather than a deepfake. WorldID for agents, also called AgentKit, lets an agent present proofs to external platforms when a user entrusts proofs to an AI agent.
Sandro Herbig (산드로 헤르빅), CEO of Tools for Humanity, which develops the World project, said, “As AI spreads across all aspects of life, companies are asking individuals for proofs to reduce fraud and increase trust.” He said, “WorldID for banking and finance is a suite of tools that adds an AI-safe layer of trust to internal and external systems.”
World is working with OpenExchange, Bain Capital, VanEck Fund, Outtake and others to explore ways to apply WorldID to financial services. It did not disclose the names of banks using the products or pricing.
