Kakao said on Oct. 19 it launched an 'Autumn Foliage Map' service on KakaoMap that allows users to check the status of major autumn foliage and ginkgo sites nationwide.
The Autumn Foliage Map includes 65 sites nationwide, including Wonju's Bangye-ri ginkgo tree, Chuncheon's Nami Island and Seoul Forest. Users can search for 'Autumn Foliage Map' in the KakaoMap app search bar or tap a dedicated button at the bottom of the search bar.
The map distinguishes foliage sites and ginkgo sites with maple leaf and ginkgo leaf icons, respectively. It also displays leaf color in three stages: before foliage, first foliage and peak.
Tapping a site icon links to a detailed page for that location. Users can check the address, parking information and website, and it provides information needed for a visit depending on the site. Kakao also introduces on the map 'autumn walking trails' selected by shoe brand Le Mouton, and from Oct. 23 it will run a user event in partnership with Le Mouton.
Kim Bo-ram (김보람), KakaoMap domain leader, said, "Following the cherry blossom map, we prepared the Autumn Foliage Map in autumn as well so users can easily find outing destinations." She added, "We will expand the service so users can discover new places through diverse place information."
