Smilegate Hope Studio said on Oct. 19 it carried out medical support and volunteer work for children with cleft lip and palate at Da Nang Women and Children's Hospital in Vietnam from Oct. 15 to 17 with the Yonsei University Health System.

A total of 21 people took part, including 13 medical staff led by Young-soo Jung (정영수), dean of Yonsei University's College of Dentistry, creators Kim Kwang-tae (김광태), Kim Min-kyung (김민경), Kkonya (꼰야) and Kyang Maesil (걍매실) from volunteer group Crayon, and Hope Studio officials.

Hope Studio and the Yonsei University Health System are providing medical support, including surgery, for children who struggle to receive proper treatment due to local medical conditions. The two sides have continued related volunteer work since 2017 and have so far supported about 2,000 children and guardians.

The activities, themed "Give for Smile", also included an experience programme for the children alongside the medical support.

Participants decorated hats, shoes and T-shirts with the children and delivered gifts including key rings and stationery. The creators' on-site activities were broadcast live through Hope Studio's YouTube channel.

It is also running a donation campaign linked to the medical support. Hope Studio will run fundraising on its platform under the title "A Smile for Children with Cleft Lip and Palate" until Nov. 10.

The donations raised will be used to buy and provide special baby bottles for children with cleft lip and palate, with no deduction for operating costs.

Kwon Yeon-ju (권연주), a director at Hope Studio, said she hopes the activities with the Yonsei University Health System, creators and fans will provide practical help to Vietnamese children. She said Hope Studio will continue to play a role in connecting experts' professionalism, creators' talents and fans' participation.
