Hana Bank's retirement pension assets exceeded 52 trillion won as of the end of the third quarter this year. The total rose 3.77 trillion won from the end of last year, the biggest increase among banks. Growth in individual retirement pension (IRP) and defined contribution (DC) plan balances led the overall rise.
Hana Bank said on Oct. 19 that its retirement pension assets totalled 52.16 trillion won as of end-September, based on the Financial Supervisory Service's Integrated Pension Portal disclosure comparing retirement pensions.
The total was up 3.77 trillion won from the end of last year. By type, IRP balances increased 3.10 trillion won and DC balances rose 1.29 trillion won.
Hana Bank explained that after ranking first in the banking sector for increases in retirement pension assets for three straight years from 2023 to 2025, it also recorded the largest increase on a cumulative basis through the third quarter this year.
Hana Bank is also expanding its retirement pension asset management services and product lineup. It is also running an event for new customers. Through Nov. 30, it will provide a 15,000 won Daiso mobile gift certificate to first-time IRP customers who meet certain conditions.
The benefit applies to customers who had no transactions with Hana Bank as of the end of August and either make a new deposit of at least 100,000 won into an IRP account and set up an automatic transfer of at least 50,000 won, or make a new deposit of at least 3,000,000 won.
A Hana Bank official said it would strengthen products and asset management services so customers can manage their pension assets in a stable way.
