Voice AI solutions company AudAi said on Thursday it worked with SBS A&T to provide its singing voice synthesis engine, VOX Factory, for the development of a new voice for the Korean Vocaloid SeeU.

The company said SeeU is a Korean Vocaloid (voice synthesis software) character that SBS Art Tech, now SBS A&T, developed in 2011 through technical cooperation with Japan’s Yamaha. AudAi said the project moves away from past methods that relied on overseas engines and equips SeeU with the domestically developed VOX Factory singing voice synthesis engine, creating a virtual singer SeeU based entirely on homegrown technology.

AudAi said it plans to combine the SeeU IP, which it said has a strong fandom and symbolic status, with the VOX Factory engine, which has undergone continued technical updates. It said it aims to offer fans and AI Vocaloid users an evolved music production experience and promote its technical capabilities as an IP-based singing voice synthesis engine.

AudAi’s VOX Factory, installed in SeeU, provides a web-based solution that can be used immediately online without installing separate programs. Work data is automatically saved to the cloud, allowing users to continue working without device constraints. It also offers a Start from Voice function that lets users begin working on a song using only humming or guide vocal audio sources.

AudAi Chief Executive Soon-beom Choi (최순범) said, "It is meaningful to present SeeU, a symbolic presence in the history of virtual singers in Korea, again with AudAi’s next-generation engine VOX Factory." He said, "We will offer a new voice and an evolved working environment to fans and music creators who loved SeeU in the past, and we will spare no support so that more creators can use homegrown singing voice synthesis technology to create global music IPs through this collaboration."
