Vesl AI said on Oct. 15 it signed a memorandum of understanding with Korea Investment & Securities on graphic processing unit, or GPU, financing.
Under the agreement, Korea Investment & Securities will support expanded investment and fundraising needed for GPU infrastructure projects, while Vesl AI will cooperate in promoting the business based on its experience operating a GPU cloud platform.
The specific investment structure and size will be decided through project-by-project discussions going forward.
GPU infrastructure is a field that requires large upfront investment to build and expand. Vesl AI plans to use the agreement to combine a financial firm's fundraising capabilities with its own GPU cloud operating technology to expand its neo-cloud business.
Chang-jin Bang (방창진), head of the PF Group at Korea Investment & Securities, said AI computing infrastructure centered on GPUs is emerging as a new core investment area in global financial markets. He said the firm would seek various avenues of financial cooperation based on its structured finance and capital markets capabilities.
Jae-man Ahn (안재만), CEO of Vesl AI, said competitiveness in GPU infrastructure comes from having both a fundraising base and operating capabilities. He said the company would work with Korea Investment & Securities to respond more quickly to global AI customer demand.
