Canadian AI company Cohere has signed a letter of intent to acquire AISLE, a San Francisco security startup specialising in AI-based software vulnerability detection, Reuters reported on Oct. 15 local time. Detailed terms were not disclosed.
Cohere plans to use the deal to strengthen security and threat-detection capabilities for enterprise and public-sector customers. Customers may also install AISLE directly on their own systems. Cohere said, "As AI advances, both cybersecurity and the threats companies face are changing." It added, "Defensive capabilities must evolve just as quickly."
AISLE was founded in 2025 by Ondrej Vlcek (온드레이 블첵), a former CEO of Czech antivirus company Avast. Alumni of Google DeepMind and Anthropic are participating as co-founders.
AISLE said it found more than 500 new bugs in widely used software in its first year. The tally included 12 vulnerabilities in OpenSSL, a free program that encrypts internet communications for banks, government agencies and messenger apps. The vulnerabilities were fixed after being found.
