ITCEN Entec, led by CEO Jang-ho Shin (신장호), said on Wednesday it has launched an artificial intelligence-based learning service, AI Essay Coach (essay-coach.ai), for students preparing for the 2027 college admissions essay track.
The company said AI Essay Coach reflects university-specific differences in essay question formats and evaluation factors. It lets students practise based on the exam conditions of the university they are applying to and receive immediate scoring and editing feedback through AI.
College essay tests vary by university in test duration, question structure, answer length and evaluation factors. Study tailored to a target university's question-setting characteristics is important. Improving essay skills requires repeated writing and editing feedback, but students face constraints such as time and cost in receiving sufficient professional feedback.
ITCEN Entec said it developed AI Essay Coach with this learning environment in mind, so students can use a single service from checking university-specific essay information to doing practical exercises and receiving AI editing feedback.
ITCEN Entec plans to provide the service for free through this year's college admissions essay-track period and switch to a paid service from 2027.
Starting with AI Essay Coach, ITCEN Entec also plans to gradually expand its education AI services. In early 2027, it plans to additionally introduce an AI descriptive-answer grading service that evaluates descriptive answers and presents grading grounds based on assessment criteria and achievement standards set by teachers, and an AI inquiry-activity support service that supports students' curriculum-linked inquiry activities.
ITCEN Entec said it plans to use the launch to foster education software-as-a-service as a new growth area, alongside its existing public education information system construction business, by continuously upgrading and operating its in-house AI services.
Seok-young Son (손석영), an executive director at ITCEN Entec, said, "We developed the service so students can repeatedly practise for the university they are applying to by reflecting different essay question formats and evaluation factors by university, and identify their weak points through AI." He said, "Based on field understanding accumulated in the public education sector and AI technology capabilities, we will continue to expand AI services that can be trusted and used in education settings."
