[DigitalToday reporter Ho-jung Lee (이호정)] Kakao has introduced a "curator" feature on KakaoTalk Gift that links product recommendations to earnings.
Kakao said on Oct. 14 it has opened the "Gift Curator" feature, which allows users to recommend Gift products on external channels and receive commissions based on purchase performance through the link.
Any Gift member can work as a curator. Users choose a product from eligible items, create a dedicated link and share it on channels they operate such as blogs, YouTube and Instagram.
If purchases generated through the shared link meet the conditions for recognizing earnings, commissions are paid. Activity performance and earnings details can be checked on a curator-only screen.
To mark the launch, Kakao is also running a promotion offering a total 9 percent commission through December. It is operated with a limited budget, and the commission rate may change if the budget is exhausted.
Kakao plans to gradually expand features that help curators find products to recommend and share them across multiple channels.
A Kakao official said the feature is designed to help users recommend products based on their tastes and experience and gain new earning opportunities. The official added that Kakao will continue to expand related features and benefits.
